2009-2010 Housing Assignment Update for New Students

Our housing assignment staff is hard at work completing your residence hall assignment for the fall. In June, you will receive an e-mail to your mail.msu.edu account inviting you to sign in to your MyHousing account to view your residence hall assignment. In early August, you will receive a second e-mail inviting you to log onto MyHousing to view your roommate information and new MSU address and room number. We are excited to have you as part of our Spartan community!

Attention All 2009-2010 Residents of University Housing

If you have not viewed and electronically signed your Housing Contract, please go to MyHousing to do so. If we do not have record of your completed contract, you will continue to receive reminder e-mails. If you are 17 or under, you must print the contract on MyHousing, have your parent or guardian sign the contract, and fax to 517-884-6541 or mail to: Housing Assignments Office, Michigan State University, C101 E. Wilson Hall, East Lansing, MI 48825-1208.

Waitlist Information Update — Room/Hall Assignment Changes for New and Returning Students Assigned for Fall 2009

The Housing Assignments Office makes all assignments regardless of race, sexual orientation or national origin, and rejects all requests for changes of assignment based on these factors. Two weeks after fall classes begin, the Room/Hall Change Request Form will be available on MyHousing. The Room/Hall Change Request Form will allow you to specify to which residence hall(s) and room type(s) you are interested in moving. If transitional housing occurs, please be aware that we will not be able to honor room/hall change requests until all students in transitional housing have been reassigned to standard occupancy. Room/hall changes will be made according to the order in which the Room/Hall Change Request Forms are received. If you have a conflict with your roommate, please contact your floor’s resident mentor or your residence hall’s resident director. As you may know, resident mentors are live-in student employees who provide resources and programming for residents, and resident directors are full-time professional staff members who live and work in your residence hall community.

MSU StudentsThe First Year Experience Program

The First Year Experience program will be piloted this fall in Holden Hall. The FYE program is a new and exciting initiative, designed to provide first year students with specific resources, support, and programming to help facilitate a successful transition and acclimation to Michigan State University. This collaborative effort among many MSU academic and student support units offers unique opportunities for students to explore, to learn more and to become better connected to the University.
