Everyone is Welcome!

We are a strong partner in the transition from high school to college, helping students adjust to the rigors of academics and the freedom they so crave. It may help you to know that over 65% of eligible students return to University Housing each year. That speaks well of our services and the experience students have. But let's get down to the basics.

Sending students off to college is exciting. Some of you can't wait and others of you are dreading it. Most of you will vacillate between the two. We'd like to say "don't worry" but we know you will. Our mission includes providing safe and clean facilities and the quality of our services is unparalleled. MSU continues to be a national leader in living learning options which integrate academic programs within the residence hall community. For more information, check out the Campus Life and the Resource sections and the U-View - a monthly online newsletter. For more information about living on campus, check out our FAQs page.

Benefits to living on campus, besides the obviously convenient location, include the ability to grow as a person. Nearly every hall across campus houses students from across the country and around the world, from every major and every level. We believe it is important to offer an environment ripe with opportunities to learn and grow. No matter what hall is assigned, the opportunities are there.

Freshmen are eligible to live in every undergraduate hall on campus except McDonel Hall, which is reserved for returning students.

Advancing Knowledge. Transforming Lives. It is in this spirit that MSU has long believed our students benefit from learning outside the classroom by interacting and socializing with roommates, floor mates and friends met on the job. To that end, freshmen are not eligible for an initial assignment in a single room, although the opportunity may become available during the course of the year.

All eligible students enrolled at MSU are welcome in University Housing. Freshmen and students who have not earned 28 credits are required to reside on campus as a condition of enrollment. The policy is outlined in the Terms and Conditions section and in the Housing Policy of Student Life.
